Our asks

We are calling on the next Victorian Government to take action to strengthen our state’s palliative and end-of-life care system.

Year One

Fund and embed a culture of palliative care across Victoria.

What is the need?

Every day, Victorians with life-limiting illness are left without the support they need to die well. There is a lack of consistent understanding, capability, and visibility of palliative care across the broader health system.

What is PCV asking for?

Full implementation and funding of the refreshed Victorian palliative care and end-of-life framework, ensuring that palliative care is embedded across all health and community settings.

Targeted statewide education and training program for health professionals to identify and respond to palliative care needs early, including through targeted service models. For those at the end-of-life using the Care Pathway for the Dying Person with onward referral to specialist care as appropriate.

$200,000 annual funding for PCV to deliver targeted community awareness and engagement campaigns focusing on minoritised and underserved populations (e.g., Aboriginal, People from migrant and refugee backgrounds, LBGTIQA+, rural and regional communities).
